Make homemade dips, e.g. HummusPresent Baba GhanoushAnd PestoIs one thing, but to reach the super smooth and creamy texture that you get in restaurants is different. But I recently discovered one Genius Hack on Instagram That changed the game.

According to Alfie Steiner from @AlfiecooksIf you only add a magical ingredient to your mixed dips, you will be in a matter of seconds from grainy to Ultraglamot. In his series “Immerse“He shows his audience how to do it The best dipsand offers a variety of recipes of Bean dipS too Aromatized hummus.

The common denominator in all are the ice cubes in which he will enter towards the end. Yes, ice cubes.

Does the add of ice cubes make you more smooth?

I found it difficult to believe that such a simple solution would make such a big difference, so I decided to test it on one of my favorites: Beet hummus. I am always looking for tips on how I can make my hummus smoother, so I had the feeling that if this ice rink worked on hummus, it would work for every dip.

I drained and flushed out my chickpeas, boiled a few beets and went straight to the back of my kitchen cabinet to grab my 10-year-old Kitchen machine. I threw a few other basic foods hummus ingredients, including lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, tahini, salt and pepper, and mixed until I thought it was as smooth as it would work.

Before I switched off the mixer, I pushed a few ice cubes down the feed tube and watched my bright pink beet hummus turned into one of the most fluffy and creamiest dips that I have ever done. (Note: Since they add more water to technically, I had to add a little more salt and pepper. But that’s easy enough to repair.)

Why do ice cubes make dips smooth and creamy?

If you are a skeptic as I am, it is proof of why adding ice to mixed dips leads from Meh to restaurant quality so quickly. Adding one or two ice cubes helps to integrate both air and moisture. The air makes it easy and fluffy, and the moisture helps to make it smooth and silky.

Remember that it will only work if you have one powerful mixer Or kitchen machine that can actually chop the ice cream. If you do not do this, you will only fly around in the blender with chunks of ice, and that won’t be good for your hummus (or your mixer).

Which dips should you add ice cream?

As long as the desired result is a super smooth and creamy dip, one or two ice cubes do not harm a dip. You can try it for a creamy pesto, a light and fluffy Greek yogurt dip or like Alfie, or like Alfie a silky white bean dip. I would not recommend adding ice to dips such as spinach and artichokes, guacamole or another dip that is not mixed smoothly.
