The pasta sauce of my Italian mother is so simple that I will never touch the cozy stuff again
When they grew up in one Italian Household like me, your family probably has strong opinions about the ancient debate: is it “sauce” or “sauce”? My mother’s family is proud of team -sauce while my father insists that it is a sauce because “sauce” is for roast beef.
No matter who you stand on your side, one thing is never ready for debate: my mother’s sauce always hits the place. I admit I am a bit biased, but I learned from one of the best chefs on the planet – my Italian mother who learned from mine grannywho learned from my great -grandmother Santucci – from Sassinoro in the province of Benevento, Italy, from Sassinoro.
The pasta sauce or “sauce” of my Italian mother “”
I don’t exaggerate when I say that my mother’s sauce (or the pasta sauce) is so damn tasty – and the aroma really speaks for itself. To paint the picture: grow up and to this day my neighbors always knew which morning the sauce was because the aroma from fresh tomatoes, garlic and basil on the stove from our windows and into our cozy small neighborhood blew. Let’s just say passers -by would float.
Even now my clothes always smell of my mother’s sauce when I leave my home in childhood – and I’m totally not angry about it.
The secret ingredient
One of the best parts about mom’s sauce? It’s pretty easy to prepare as soon as you familiarize yourself with it. The recipe only requires five ingredients – paths tomatoes, diced onion and garlic, Fresh basilAnd to taste salt and pepper olive oil outside the Viregs-Plus.
However, true family secret uses the same wooden spoon for sauce every Sunday. (I was able to honestly select my mother’s worn out of a number of dozens!)
My mother was taught that Wooden spoon Add the sauce taste – pot after the pot seasons the wood and returns every batch of “a little Italian love”. Her sauce always comes out in one direction and my grandma got out a little differently – although everyone in the family does the same. Maybe it’s the spoon!
Nevertheless, this wooden spoon is not only seasoned with the extraction of sauce. It is a symbol for my mother – my best friend – and makes one of the most popular traditions in our family. It is so heartwarming to give a family recipe and a wooden spoon. Even if the older generations are no longer with us, their roots and work of love continue to live.
