Kentucky Benedictine spread
Benedictin is the name of A French liqueurBut when you travel to Kentucky, the word accepts a completely different meaning: a hearty and creamy cucumber base. This spread of cream cheese and mayonnaise with a little sharpness of grated onions and much cooling, crispy cucumber is simple, quick and easy.
A short story of Benedictines spread
Jennie Carter Benedict, Caterer, restaurateur and cookbook author from Louisville, Kentucky, is attributed to Kentucky Benedictine’s invention at the turn of the 20th century. While Benedict is not common in the USA, it is very lively and good in Kentucky, where it is offered in many restaurants and can even be bought in grocery stores.
How to prepare Benedictine width
Benedictin is remarkably easy to prepare – all ingredients are simply mixed together in a bowl. The only trick to do it is to squeeze as much fluid as possible from the grated cucumber. Otherwise their spread is too loose. Oh, and make food coloring easy (if you use it at all). A teen drop is everything you need to give the spread a light green color.
Serve Benedictine
While Benedictine was originally created as a sandwich filling, it can also serve as a dip for vegetables such as baby carrots and celery sticks. Or serve it with crackers for spreading or pita chips for immersion.

- Do it green– Although it contains a whole cucumber, Benedict is mainly white. If you only add a small drop of green food coloring, you can make the spread more appealing, especially if you are spread over white bread as a sandwich.

Location 1 large English cucumber, peeled and grated In a clean kitchen towel. Express as much fluid as possible via the sink.

How to store
Fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Some liquids can separate when the Benedict is sitting. Just pour it off or stir it back.
Do you feel adventurous? Try this:
- Change the taste –For a non -traditional (but very delicious) taste variation, add 1 tablespoon of hackhacked fresh dill.
- Try another onion –Stir in finely chopped chives or green onions instead of the grated sweet onion.
- Give him more body– If the Benedictines run something (this can happen if your cucumber is particularly large), stir more cream cheese or even sour cream or Greek yogurt.
