I tried 6 fast food snacks, and the winner was not McDonald’s
In 2006, McDonald’s rolled out the Snack wrap, a simple and delicious handheld from A Tortilla Full with fried chicken, salad and crushed cheese. I was 10 at the time and asked my mother to get past a Mickey D’s Drive-Thru. By 2016, McDonald’s switched off the snack wrap. I didn’t eat much Fast food back then, but many fans were put down by his disappearance.
Recently after speculation that the famous snack wrap would come back McDonald’s finally announced his return. At about the same time, competitors like Popeyes is introduced to the classic handheld. And now almost every fast food chain seems to have a version on the menu.
Of course, not all snacks wraps are created equally. So I started trying as many as possible and seeing whether McDonald’s still holds the crown or whether another place has taken over quietly. After trying several, I found a clear winner. Without giving away too much, I will only say that the result surprised me.
Read on to find out what victory ends.
How I tested the snack wrap
I spent a few weeks to test snacks and hit two locations per excursion to avoid overloading too many in one day. At every stopover, including places such as McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC and others, I ordered every menu item with one Fried chicken tender Wrapped in a tortilla with fixations.
The core formula remained the same across chains, but the ingredients and flavors varied greatly. For example, Popeyes contains cucumberswhile McDonald’s salad adds. Based on whether the coverings improved the taste or took it away. The same thing went for Saucy; Some came along Signature blendsSo I rated how well they added the overall packaging.
It is even more important that I focus on key elements: soft tortillas, crisp and aromatic chicken and fresh, balanced coverings.
Below you will find my ranking of six fast food snacks, and with which you should grab yourself on your next passage trip.
The best fast food snacks that ranked rankings
6. Platz: KFC’s chicken wrap
Ashia Aubourg
KFC served his chicken pack With a dry tortilla. It should be roasted, but it leaned out more to stale than crispy. This repulsive texture made it difficult to enjoy the rest of the handheld.
Inside, the wrap included salad, tomato and a pepper -Mayo sauce. The vegetables were missing freshness and the Aioli fell flat in taste. While the chicken tendon delivered the same spice as KFCs’s layer -fried chicken, the breading was once damp.
5th place: Burger King’s Royal Crispy Wrap
Ashia Aubourg
I always tried it Burger King chicken friesSo a tender found me in the wrap, unprepared. According to the employee, they only serve the tenders in wraps, so I was curious to try it out.
The tortilla leaned stale, and although the tomato and salad added a little crunch, the chicken tender had a strange artificial texture. The wrap receives three flavors: classic (which I ordered), spicy and honey mustard. Even if I tried another sauce, I could not be able to overcome the taste of the chicken.
4th place: Arby’s chicken pack
Ashia Aubourg
Arbys wrap threw me off. Instead of using shredded cheese, they were in a thick cheddar slice together with damp salad and a chicken tasting that tasted as if it had spent too long in the freezer. The Parmesan Peppercorn Ranch delivered a delicious creaminess and a hearty kick and offers the only real highlight. Nevertheless, this sauce didn’t do enough to order the chicken pack again.
3rd place: McDonald’s Snack Wrap
Ashia Aubourg
I feel Nostalgically over McDonald’s Snack wrap, although it did not reach the top of my ranking, still delivered some delicious flavors. The handheld contains distributed cheese, salad and its selection of ranch or spicy pepper sauce. I chose Ranch and appreciated the taste of the add-ins and the crispy chicken coating, but the texture of the chicken remained behind the other winners. The strip lacked tenderness and tasted more like a microwave -shaped object rather than something handmade and fried.
2nd place: Popeyes chicken wrap
Ashia Aubourg
Popeyes wraps come with one of the Chain’s crispy, hand -emphasized chicken Strip hidden in a soft tortilla. As a long -time fan of her fried tenders, I found the Wrap version a delicious (and more fill) upgrade.
Inside, the wrap contains crispy cucumbers, a crispy salad and crushed cheese, which give all texture and taste. I chose the honey mustard, which resulted in a satisfactory sweetness and speed. The spice hit the brand, and the chicken remained crispy despite the generous layer of crispy Toppings and sauceEarn bonus points in my book.
1st place winner: Sonic’s Chicken Strip Wrap
Ashia Aubourg
Sonic grabs it Version of a snack wrap With a fried chicken, tender, crushed cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato, all folded into a warm, soft tortilla. For the sauce you can choose between a creamy honey Chipotle aioli Or an tormented Baja Option.
The fried chicken delivered with taste; It is tender, juicy and breaded in a crispy coating that remained crispy even in the tortilla. The salad added freshness, the tomato brought a nice outbreak of juice and the honey chipotle -sauce offered the right balance between sweet and smoky.
I usually Visit Sonic For chili dogs and shesry, but next time I will definitely add one of his chicken strips to my order.
