Do you think Margaritas are refreshing? Wait until you try this cucumber -hard lemonade
Why does it work
- Misore from the bowl with sugar extracts aromatic oils.
- Fresh dill cucumber adds a light, spicy salt content that improves the citrus fruits.
- Smoking mezcal fits wonderfully with the lemon and the sales cucumber (although other spirits can also work).
my colleague Grace Kelly Recently published it Recipe for cucumber lemonadeAnd in the top note she mentioned how well it fits mezcal (or gin, vodka or whiskey). At that time I read it as a friendly. Fast lead to the day of the photo shoot in the serious EST test kitchen – also a long one that contained a few pretty, damn product taste tests – and suddenly less like an informal proposal and more like a clear guideline.
After mixing, pouring and photographing the virgin version, we decided that it was time to follow Grace’s leadership. We poured a few cups of mezcal into the jug and took a sip. The smoky edge of the MEZCAL has put together with the lemonade of the salt geses-like like a lime and salt hunter complemented agave miths such as mezcal and tequila. The result is a quirky refreshment that is overlaid and surprisingly complex.
Grace proposes a 3: 1 ratio of lemonade to alcohol that creates a strong but balanced drink, which is still bright with lemon, a salty blow made of salty cucumber and just enough sweetness to prevent you from twitching with every sip.
Does the cucumber limonade need alcohol? No, of course not-it is excellent as a refreshing, non-alcoholic drink. But did I enjoy the addition? I would – lying – lie if I said no. On this specific afternoon it was exactly what we needed.

Notes
While I love the smoky aroma, Mezcal gives this lemonade, vodka, gin, tequila blanco and even whiskey well if you want to address the drink.
This recipe reflects my preferred balance of cucumber salt, lemonade and water for a sweet drink. You can adapt the proportions with additional water, lemon juice or cucumber salt to your own taste, considering that the lemonade is further diluted when operated.
Make-based and storage
The lemonade can be cooled in an airtight container for a week, although I would remove the lemon rounds after a day because they can make the drink bitter.
