How to cut an onion
Hacking refers to cut something with a knife. For example, you can chop something “rough”, “fine” or “cross” without specifying the shape or size of the parts.
Dice is a certain type of hacking. It is a method to cut squares or cubes. The ordinary and more regular are their onion pieces, the less likely that they catch and burn at the edges of their pan, the more likely they are that they fry evenly.
Cutting refers to chopping something in a quick movement. This is usually used to cut larger pieces of something.

What are the different ways to cut an onion?
How to roll an onion (cubes)
- Cut it into two halves and let the root intact (the roots will hold the onion together until they make the final slices set so that they form decent cubes).
- Make two or three horizontal cuts into the first half of the onion and cut the roots, but not through them.
- Cut off vertically and hold the onion together. Repeat these two cuts with the other half of the onion.
- Turn the onion so that the root end is the most away from the knife, and chop it down with a cutting movement and move towards the root to create finely diced onion pieces.
How to cut an onion
- Cut the top of the onion (the end, which looks more like an outlet than the root end).
- Peel the skin away and dispose of the brown layers until you remain with two clean, yellow onion halves.
- Cut the onion into slices.
- Alternatively, turn the onion so that the root points to the south and cut against the grain in a half -mass.
Rings
- Cut the top of the onion and peel and hold it entirely.
- Hold it firmly on a woodboard and cut it into rings.
- Discard the root and stem ends.
How to cut a spring onion
- Wash and then cut off the root, as well as all rags at the top.
- Cut the light bulb into rounds.
- Cut the green tops over (kitchen scissors are good for this) or permanently with a knife and then again, depending on the shape, in which form you want.
- If you want to make the tips in slim lengths as above as above, leave it in ice -cold water for 30 minutes.
