The 1-second upgrade that changed my daily kitchen
Over the years we record all the small cooking tips and tricks that we use again and again. Sometimes we pick them up from our favorite chefs (I will never forget Julia Child’s Magic Quiche Ratio), our Parents And GrandparentPresent Industry professionalsor Friends and employees. And sometimes the best tricks are the result of a solution for their most common frustrations.
So came this little trick. On most days I always reached for a certain ingredient to add a zipper to me cocktailA ended cut to mine pastaOr to exceed mine seafood. After all, I started to prioritize the convenience – with this simple trick I was able to use my favorite ingredient every day. Sometimes it is the smallest things that make the biggest difference.
Everything about the refrigerator lemon
Listen to me – it sounds silly, but if you love citrus fruits as I do, it can only work for you. The “trick” is uncomplicated. Store a halved lemon and a fork in a DELI container or on a plate in your fridge. Take it out, use the fork for easy pressing and pack it up again. So often we only need a little hint of lemon to absorb our favorite drinks and recipes. Then waste the rest of the fruits or store away and hope that you will think about using it before it gets bad.

With this (very) simple solution, your lemon is ready to go – no cutting board or knife. After you have pressed your lemon, just burst back on the plate or in the container for the next time. After all, everything is used up and you can throw or compost the bowl. But with this method you consume the entire juice from the lemon every time. In addition, they will be used more often, which means that more dishes benefit from this additional zipper citrus fruits.
Fork squeezing
If you ask yourself what a fork has to do with this entire situation, you may not be familiar with juicing lemons with this quick and simple trick. Essentially, they put the fork in the middle of the halved lemon, then press the lemon around the fork to get more juice out than they would ask it by hand.
Lemons have small membranes (or “sacks”) that hold all of these delicious juice. The fork helps to manually break the membranes of the lemons, which releases more juice with every squeeze and every rotation. It is simply an easy way to get the best out of your fruits, but a completely optional part of the “Refrigerator” setup.
If you reach for lemons (or Limes) for a daily brightness, try this little trick to see if a fridge lemon is helpful for you! However, keep it on the front of your refrigerator to get the visual memory.
