According to the FDA, several cheese brands can be contaminated with Listeria
Due to a potential contamination of Listeria Monocytogenes, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued three separate recalls for cheese products that are sold in various shops. Here is a summary of the latest news that you need to know.
Wegman’s cheese call back
On August 12, the FDA announced a recall for various types of cheese and cheese products that are sold Wegmans Food Markets, Inc.. The medium -sized soft, mature cheese from Wegmans was called back by its supplier Estancia Holdings after they had told the French supplier of Estancia Holdings that three cheese programs could be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.
The medium-sized soft, mature cheese Camembert was sold in the cheese department of Wegmans as an 8.8 -unzen-owned product and in three additional products. The following Wegmans products are affected by this recall:
- 8.8-on-Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft-matured cheese with UPC 77890-53515 and best-by data 26.07.25, 8/12/25 and 19.08.25
- 1-pound pathman cheese flug with UPC 2-77100-00000-0
- 10-UNZEN-WEGMANS grilling Camembert with tapenade and roasted tomatoes with UPC 2-77297-00000-0
- 13-Uszen Wegmans caramel apple Pekanuss with brie cheese with UPC 2-77645-00000-3
The cheese and cheese-containing products were sold in Wegman’s stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, DC,
If you have the cheese, you shouldn’t consume it. Throw it away instead or return it for a complete reimbursement of Wegmans.
Middlefield original cheese co-op recall
One Middlefield Original Cheese Co-OP in Middlefield, Ohio, has published a recall for almost 250 pounds of cheese Because of the possible presence of Listeria. The products were manufactured on June 16, June 24 and 16 of this year and distributed between July 14th and August 7th in the state of Ohio.
Middlefield Original Cheese Co-OP remembers the following cheese:
- Middlefield original cheese co-op 100% with grass-lined pepper jack cheese sold in 8-vertical packages, 5-pound breads and 40 pound breads with loscode 251661
- Copia Collective 100% with grass-lined pepper jack cheese sold in 8 -unzen packages with Loscode 251661
- Middlefield Original Cheese co-op horseradish cheese, which was sold in 8 -unzen packages with Loscode 2524061
- Middlefield Original Cheese Co-OP Monterey Jack cheese in 8 -unzen packages and 5 pound blocks with Loscode 251672 sold
- Middlefield Original Cheese Co-OP Monterey Jack Cheese Sold in 40-pound blocks with date code 7-16-25b
- Farm cheese in 8 -unzen packages and 5-pound blocks with Loscode 251672 sold
- Farmers cheese in 40-pound blocks with date code 7-16-25b sold
If you have the called back cheese, don’t consume it. Instead, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase to receive a complete refund.
Fromi USA Brie Retreuf
Fromi USA from New York, New York, has published a recall for 12 cases of his Royal Faucon from Brie Cheese due to a potential Listeria contamination. The cheese was distributed to the Käseteller Park Slope LLC in Brooklyn, New York, and sold between July 24th and August 13th at Cheese Plate Brooklyn Park LLC and cheese plate Brooklyn Carroll Garden.
The cheese can be identified through the lot number 615 in the wooden box and in the housing. However, if you have bought the cheese cut and packed individually, it does not contain the lot number. In this case, you should not consume it if you bought BRIE at the locations of the cheese plate in Brooklyn. Throw it away instead or return it to a refund in the cheese shops.
More information about Listeria
At this point, the FDA did not report any cases of Listeria caused by the food of one of the called back cheese. However, if you have consumed the cheese, you should monitor yourself Listeria infection.
Listeriosis can cause high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In serious cases – especially in children, older people, people with a weakened immune system and pregnant people – this can lead to more serious and sometimes fatal infections.
