In order to find the best sweet tea in bottles, our editors have tried seven different brands with nationally available sweet tea, which you will probably find in your local grocery store or online. We chose simple sweetened teas without additional flavors such as peach, lemon or other fruits. We cooled and poured them in cups and then tried them in a random order without knowing which brand was. After we had carried through all the sweet teas, we tabbed the results and crowned an overall winner and two other worthy competitors, whom we would like to serve at our meetings.
The criteria
Like it unsweetened counterpartSweet tea should be smooth and balanced. It should taste like tea: there should be a tannin -containing structure and gentle bitterness, but not so much that it is overwhelmed. At least a hint of sweetness is essential – it Is Sweet Tea after all – but it shouldn’t be bloody cute or tasted artificially.

Although we didn’t enjoy this teas as much as our winner, our editors found the iced teas from the two brands mentioned above as in order. Our editorial director, Danielenjoyed the flavors of Gold Peak Sweet Tea: “No complaints, maybe a little sweet hardness, but very small slash.” However, this tea was a little too sweet for many of our editors, including Genevievieve, our Visuals Editor, Jessieand our associated editorial director, MeganHe believes that after many years in NYC he has lost its southern taste for sweet tea.
Both Jessie and Kelli discovered a touch of lemon in Pure sheet of sweet teaAlthough it was not a listed ingredient, this is almost certainly due to the citric acid listed on the label. Genevieve and Amanda both commented on the fact that they could taste the tea, but Daniel found him a little too acidic. “I didn’t find it too acidic, not too sweet and pretty balanced compared to the rest of the teas.

Important snack bars and conclusion
While our team did not unanimously agree to the ideal level of sweetness, we consistently approached picks with minimal ingredients and pronounced tea aromas. Our winner, Milo’s, has only three ingredients and kept our testers out of brewed tea, light and subtle tannins due to its strong taste of brewed tea.
Our runner -up also contains only three ingredients. Pure leaf consists of brewed black tea, sugar and citric acid, while the gold peak contains tea, cane sugar and phosphoric acid. Citric acid and phosphoric acid are both common flavor enhancers and preservatives and can give an acid that not everyone likes. While we still prefer to make our own sweet tea so that we can control all variables such as candy and additions such as fresh lemon juice, but we would like to serve alone for the pinch or use them as a component in other drinks.
