What is in the season – September
aubergine Drink the taste so that you work brilliantly in curries, baking and warm salads with powerful dressings. The Gitterer aubergine salad with sultanine and pine core From the writer and stylist Sarah Cook It’s also beautifully simple. Or try it Baked Ratatouille & Goats cheese.
Tip: Aubergines come from the tropics, so it is best to be in a greenhouse with a lot of irrigation and a damp atmosphere. Wait until each fruit has developed your full color and then cut the stem, about 2 cm above the fruit.
2. Chives
With their fresh onion taste and subtle crazy pfiftion, only a few snaps of these grass slides can completely transform the dishes. Sprinkle them on scrambled eggs, a simple tomato salad or everything based on fish or seafood. You also make a brilliant abbreviation if you don’t have time to fry an onion, just overturn a few chopped chives at the end. Try them in pasta dishes, soups from remnants and dumplings like ours Simple pork and chives dumplings.
3. Potatoes
This is the perfect time to dig maincrop potatoes. They take longer to mature than new potatoes and keep well in paper bags. Check whether the harvest is finished by first removing a small floor. Provide the spuds carefully on a dry day, a plant at the same time and then put it on the floor for a few hours so that the skins are dry before eating or packing. Dine all of your potatoes in autumn to keep your property clean for future vegetables. Try our Airboard potato wedge wedge.
Tip: We use Tom Kerridge Method for guaranteeing wonderfully cracker fried potatoes; Dry your parboiled tatties on a rack and roast them in hot oil and make sure that the tray is not too crowded. You don’t have to mix the potatoes or shake the pan to rest.
4. Chillis
If you long for chili heat, it is tempting to add it to every dish. We particularly love to combine citrus fruits, coriander and chilli in salads or a mixture of finely diced red chilli, garlic oil and parsley over a bowl with peeled, softly cooked eggs with a little Greek yogurt. Try chilis in this Beetroot & chili salsa.
Tip: We enjoy chili in biscuits or desserts as well as hearty dishes. Try to drizzle baked chocolate biscuits with a melted white and dark chocolate and then sprinkle with finely chopped stem gust, a pinch of chilli flakes and some sea salt.
5. Feigen
The figs are incredibly versatile and taste fantastic whether they are easily moved raw – with honey and paired with yogurt – or are added to a salad with a Parma ham in a hearty style. They can also be grilled, roasted or poached.
Tip: One of our favorite methods to enjoy this fruit is to transform it into a homemade gift for relatives. Try our Feigen jam recipe On fresh crispy bread to show someone you are interested in.
